Are you ready to go deeper? Are you ready to understand the very blueprint of your being? Today, we are diving into the deepest terminology, the deepest reverence, of how the mind of our Creator powerfully formed humanity. We are dealing with something fundamental, something that holds the key to our daily victory in Christ.

My topic is this: “Addressing the Body, Soul, and Spirit.”

Why this topic? Because I find that many of us as believers, we are stuck. We are praying for deliverance, we are fighting sins and habits, but we are not seeing lasting victory. Why? Because we are only addressing one part of the problem. We have not gotten into a closure of understanding what it really means to be a three-part being.

The Bible shows us in Genesis 2:7 that God did not create a simple creature. He formed the body from the dust, He breathed the spirit into it, and man became a living soul. You are a three-part creation: Spirit, Soul, and Body. And if you want to walk in freedom, you must learn to address all three!

1. The Problem: We Are Only Addressing the Body!

Look at our modern struggles. A huge percentage of people are looking for deliverance! Deliverance from alcohol, from smoking, from bad attitudes, from sin that keeps tripping them up. And what do we do? We address the body. We see the physical action—the hand that lifts the bottle, the mouth that speaks the curse, the habit that shames us—and we try to fix the behavior.

But I come to tell you today, you are fighting the wrong battle! The body is just the vehicle. It is the instrument. It is the cage that houses the real you! When you only address the body, you are treating the symptom and ignoring the disease.

The real battle is won before it manifests in the flesh. As Matthew 15:18-19 tells us, evil things come from the heart—from the inside—and that is what defiles a person. The sin is first conceived in the spirit and the soul, which then influences the mind, which then commands the body to act.

That is why when a person dies, as Ecclesiastes 12:7 says, the body—the dust—returns to the ground. But the spirit returns to God. The body is temporary. Are you building your entire spiritual battle plan on what is temporary?

2. The Neglected Soul and the Invitation of Christ

So, if the problem isn’t just the body, where is it? Often, it is in the neglected soul.

Your soul is your mind, your will, and your emotions. It is your character, your habits, your personality. And many of us, we are hurting our own souls! We are hitting it with negative words, we are feeding it worry, we are overloading it with stress from our marriages, our relationships, and our possessions that we try to control with our own hands.

We take this soul-pain and we try to solve it with body-solutions! “I’m stressed, so I must drink.” “I’m hurt, so I must fall into this sin.” Your soul is crying out for a solution that the world cannot give!

But Jesus gives a different invitation. He says in Matthew 11:28-29, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest… and you will find rest for your souls.” God’s solution is to address your soul directly! To transform it from the inside out.

Stop focusing on your physical limitations, your “boards” and burdens. Do you know the story of the evangelist David Ring? He was born with cerebral palsy. His body was frail, his speech was difficult for others to understand, and he was orphaned as a child. The world saw only limitation. But God addressed his soul. God called him to preach, and when David Ring stood up, his spirit, filled with the fire of God, took that struggling body and commanded it to proclaim the Gospel. Today, he is a mighty evangelist who has led thousands to Christ. Why? Because he and God did not focus on the body; they focused on the spirit and the soul. The Lord responded to his calling just as He did to Moses in Exodus 4:11, “Who gave human beings their mouths? … Is it not I, the LORD?” Stop telling God what you don’t have, and let Him address your soul with what He has!

3. Your New Identity: The Blood and DNA of Jesus

But there is a deeper issue still. There is a spiritual battle over your very identity. From the time of Adam, the enemy has worked to corrupt our spiritual lineage. We must understand this: the corruption started with Lucifer’s sin, a rebellion that introduced a spiritual poison into the very fabric of creation. This poison was transferred to humanity, corrupting the original, perfect spiritual “blood group” God wrote into Adam. It was a diabolical plan to contaminate our spiritual DNA and separate us from our Father.

Sin entered the world through one man, as Romans 5:12 tells us, and it affected our spiritual DNA. We go around claiming, “This is just my family bloodline,” “This is just how we are.” But I have news for you! When you gave your life to Christ, you were given a new blood group! You were given a new spiritual DNA!

1 John 1:7 declares that “the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” And 2 Corinthians 5:17 proclaims, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

You are not who you used to be! You have the DNA of Jesus Christ! Stop claiming the generational curses of the old, corrupted bloodline and start walking in the victorious identity of your new birth!

Conclusion: The Correct Order for Victory

So, how do we address this? We must get the order right.

  1. First, Address Your SPIRIT. Declare your new identity! You must pray, “In Jesus’ name, I have the blood of Jesus. I have the Spirit of God. I repent of my old ways. I am not of these foreign spirits anymore. I am a new creation.”

  2. Then, Address Your SOUL. Let your renewed spirit convince your soul. Command your mind to be transformed by the Word of God. Command your emotions to come under the peace of Christ. Tell your will to align with God’s will. This is the transformation of your character.

  3. Finally, Watch Your BODY Fall in Line. A soul that is being transformed by a spirit that is filled with God will naturally command the body to walk in holiness and righteousness. The addiction loses its power. The bad attitude fades away. The sin no longer has dominion over you!

People of God, it is time to address yourself correctly! Do not delay your deliverance any longer. You have the authority in Jesus Christ. You have the blood. You have the Spirit. You are more than a conqueror.

Let us pray. Holy Spirit, open our eyes. We repent for addressing only the physical. Today, we claim our new identity. We declare that our spirit is alive in Christ, our soul is being restored, and our body is a temple for your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
