Shalom, people of God!
Today I speak on a powerful message called Mercy in a Mess.
When we look at the world around us, we see confusion, suffering, wickedness, poverty, and pain. Everywhere we turn, there is evidence that something is wrong. In the middle of this brokenness, many begin to ask: Does God understand what is happening on the earth He created? Does He see the tears? Does He feel the pain of His people?
The Bible takes us back to the beginning. In Genesis chapter 1 verse 31, we are told that when God created the world, He looked at everything He had made and saw that it was very good. This means God did not create a broken world; He created a perfect one. He created peace, not chaos. He created order, not confusion. He created a garden of life, not a battlefield of suffering.
So what happened? How did we get from a perfect creation to a world in a mess?
The answer lies in the gift God gave to humanity: free will, the power to choose. Love cannot be forced. Obedience cannot be forced. Relationship cannot be forced. For love to be real, there must be choice. And because of choice, humanity turned away from God’s ways. Sin entered the world. Pride entered. Greed entered. Manipulation entered. The world became a mess not because God failed, but because humanity chose independence from Him. We see it everywhere now: systems that manipulate people, cultures that lead us away from truth, traditions we follow without knowing where they came from. We inherit pain. We inherit fear. We inherit poverty thinking. And then, in our confusion, we sometimes blame God for the very mess we chose.
But even though the world is in a mess, I want you to know today that God is not confused and He is not defeated. He sits above the world, not trapped inside it. He sees everything. He oversees everything. He understands the wickedness of humanity. And instead of destroying humanity, He chose mercy.
The Bible declares in Lamentations chapter 3 verses 22 and 23 that it is of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness. That means every morning you wake up, there is a fresh supply of mercy waiting for you. No matter how broken the system is, no matter how painful your situation is, God’s mercy is greater than the mess. Mercy is God making a way when there seems to be no way. Mercy is God protecting you when the world attacks you for following Christ. Mercy is God giving you another chance when you fail. Mercy is God looking at your poverty and releasing provision. Mercy is God looking at your sickness and bringing healing. The world may have manipulation, but God has mercy. The mess may be big, but the mercy is bigger.
Many people ask why God allows challenges. But challenges reveal our choices. When pressure comes, your true heart is exposed. The world will try to shape you. The system will try to manipulate you through fear and suffering. But God uses challenges to remind you that you still have a choice to make.
In Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 19, God speaks directly to His people and says: “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” God does not manipulate like the world does. He does not force you. He does not trap you. He invites you. He calls you. He gives you the dignity of decision. The world may pressure you, but God gives you the power to choose Him.
So the real question today is not whether God understands your mess. He does. He saw it before you entered it. The real question is whether you recognize His mercy in the middle of it. Will you choose the mercy of God, or will you stay trapped in the manipulation of the world? Will you choose the voice of the Creator, or the noise of the chaos?
People of God, the mess is real. The pain is real. The challenges are real. But so is His mercy. God saw the mess before you entered it, and He prepared mercy ahead of you. He planted mercy in the ground of your future. The chaos may be loud, but I declare to you today that His mercy is louder.
Therefore, in the middle of the chaos, choose life. Choose Christ. Choose the mercy of God. Let the world do what it will, but you fix your eyes on the One who sits above the mess and whose mercies never run out.
Altar Call / Prayer of Response
If you are tired of the mess and you want to experience His mercy, I invite you to bow your heads and pray with me from your heart:
Lord Jesus, I recognize that the world is a mess, but I also recognize that Your mercy is greater. I admit that I have made wrong choices, but today I choose life. I choose You. I receive Your mercy fresh over my life. Cleanse me, protect me, and guide me. From today, I walk not by the chaos of the world, but by the mercy of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom, and may the mercy of God walk with you all your days. Amen! 🙏🔥
